Old Trafford—Manchester, England
Manchester United 2-1 Reading
Man Utd survived a major FA Cup scare in beating Reading 2-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The first half was evenly contested with both teams clearly "up for the cup" and the 0-0 scoreline at half time was far from representative of the proceedings.
Substitute Nani finally broke the deadlock with a piercing effort, then Javier Hernandez fired in a quick second to seemingly seal the result.
Reading weren't done though, and some torrid defending by the Red Devils saw Jobi McAnuff take advantage of a half clearance to fire past David de Gea.
It set up a nervy finish with goalkeeper Adam Federici going forward for a last-minute set piece, but United held on.
