Gareth Bale Celebrates Goal vs. Lyon with Heart Celebration on Valentine's Day

Will TideySenior Manager, GlobalNovember 8, 2016

Gareth Bale treated Spurs fans to his heart celebration on Valentine's Day after scoring a thunderbolt of a free kick for Tottenham against Lyon.

The 23-year-old Welshman put Spurs ahead with his fifth goal in three games, crushing a swerving shot from full 40 yards out past Lyon goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre.

Bale is already beloved at White Hart Lane, but Spurs fans will go to bed tonight more smitten than ever after watching their hero score a goal that will only encourage further comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale's technique on the free kick was similar to that deployed by Ronaldo. He struck over the ball, conjuring sheer power and a wobble that saw the keeper rooted to the spot.

Expect tomorrow's transfer gossip columns to find fresh impetus in the persistent rumors linking Bale to a move away from North London this summer.
