The Detroit Tigers have made a decision to back the entire U.S. auto industry.

GM formerly had a sign on a fountain behind center field, and two of its vehicles were on display on either side of the sign.

This season, fans will see the same General Motors name on the fountain, along with logos for Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC. Underneath the GM name, a sign reads, "The Detroit Tigers support our automakers."

The move comes as the auto industry tries to get going again with billions in government aid.

Detroit's home opener is Friday against Texas.
