The Program: Should South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney Sit out in 2013?

Barrett SalleeSEC Football Lead WriterOctober 20, 2016

Tom Sorensen of the Charlotte Observer stirred the pot earlier this week when he suggested that it could be a good idea for South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to sit out the 2013 college football season and prepare for the 2014 NFL draft.

The question makes sense on the surface, since Clowney could probably only damage his draft stock by playing in 2013. Most draft experts believe Clowney would be the No. 1 draft pick this season if he were available.

But saying he should sit out also suggests that he willingly let his South Carolina team down in arguably the most prosperous time in program history.

Does the idea make sense, and does the season-ending knee injury to Kentucky star basketball player Nerlens Noel change your opinion on the subject?

Your Best 11 lead writer Michael Felder and SEC lead college football writer Barrett Sallee debate in this edition of The Program.
