Tottenham vs. Lyon: Europa League Live Score, Highlights, Recap
White Hart Lane—England, United Kingdom
A pedestrian affair at White Hart Lane was lit up by three truly unbelievable goals.
Spurs take a 2-1 lead to the Stade Gerland for the second leg thanks to Gareth Bale, who score two free kicks from distance.
Lyon replied with a wonder strike of their own, Samuel Umtiti doing his best impression of Steve Staunton and leaving Brad Friedel no chance.
Be sure to check on those highlights!
I need to lay down.

Of course it is!
Bale scores with the final kick of the game to win it for Spurs!
What a sweet hit.
90'2'—This is it. Free kick, 25-30 yards out. Just right of centre.
Do or die, Spurs.
91'—Bale finds the ball at his feet and he turns into space on the edge of the box.
His shot isn't directed too well and Vercoutre parries it away!
89'—If in doubt, give it to Bale.
He steams down the left—a run that's probably 40-50 yards in length—hits the byline and fizzes one across goal. No one is there to tap it in!
88'—Edging toward injury time here and Lyon look happy. A 1-1 draw and an away goal suits them just fine to take back to the Stade Gerland, but Spurs look agitated and still search for a winner.
84'—Nothing has stuck for Gomis, but the same can be said for Adebayor. It just hasn't been the Togolese's night.
Malbranque off, Grenier ON.
81'—Sigurdsson tries a cute through-ball but it rolls to Vercoutre.
The White Hart Lane crowd voice their frustrations—this is clearly a game they expected to win.
Fofana of Lyon enters the book
Lennon off, Sigurdsson ON.
75'—Gomis has been hugely disappointing this evening.
He's looked far from certain, failed to find teammates with short passes and scuffed every chance on goal. Lyon need more from him, especially since Lopez is playing wide to accommodate him.
Holtby sets Walker free down the right, he hits the byline and fires a dangerous cross in!
Lovren gets something on it but it's not convincing, and eventually Spurs grab a corner.
Dempsey off, Holtby ON
65'—Now Spurs threaten. Two chances for Bale, the first is blocked back into his path and then he fires straight at the 'keeper from 15 yards. Good work on the right to find him in space.
62'—BIG SAVE FRIEDEL!
Lacazette finally gives us some end product. He goes on a mazy run in off the right, rinses a few players and strikes it from 16 yards, central.
Friedel tips it over!
60'—Difficult to know what to say. Both strikes have been absolutely ridiculous. Can't believe what I've seen.
More on the goal
Intricate work on the right-hand side between Gomis and Lacazette is good, and the striker switches the ball to the left flank.
Umtiti runs onto it and absolutely SMASHES it into the top corner. Friedel didn't move. No one moved. I screamed involuntarily.
54'—WHAT A GOAL! UMTITI LEVELS!
51'—Some superb last-ditch defending from Jan Vertonghen halts Reveillere in his tracks. The right-back was set to breach the space behind the defensive line.
50'—Lyon come forward down the right through Lacazette. He back-heels it to Gomis inside the area on the right-hand side but the striker's attempt on goal is scuffed.
He's no good on his left.
Kyle Walker, for a late "stamp" on Umtiti.
47'—Opening two minutes have been possession football for Spurs as they reassert their dominance on the game.
Shifting it around with ease here.
45'—Second half underway!
