It's hard to believe Kate Upton was just another face before being named the cover model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2012.
But the cover boosted the 20-year-old into stardom. Since then, she's made numerous television appearances, landed some acting roles and even starred in a Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl ad this year.
Of course, that all preceded her being named the cover model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue for the second year in a row.
Now Upton is the new face of an accessory chain called Accessorize, according to the Daily Mail. In the chain's latest campaign, Upton will show off the spring/summer collection, posing in bikinis on Barbados beaches.
It's good to be Kate Upton these days.
Upton's latest photo shoot is shot by world-famous photographer Josh Olins, who also worked with such models as Claudia Schiffer, Lily Cole and Bar Rafaeli. It's a testament to Upton's star power to work with such a renowned photographer at such a young age.
But while Upton's curves certainly have played a part in her rise to stardom, she also displays the personality to expand her reach throughout the globe.
Upton, who grew up in Florida, had to do a photo shoot in Antarctica for the Swimsuit issue this year. The Swimsuit issue editor, M.J. Day, told People how impressed he was with her attitude amid the frigid temperatures.
Day said, via People:
"It was difficult. First of all, it's cold, even though we were there in summer. The windchill was sub-zero – the elements are really working against you."
"She never complained. She'd just say, 'Okay, let's go do it again.'"
It's about more than having the right curves or right face to be a supermodel. You have to have the mindset and drive to boost your appeal.
Upton hasn't worked with a collection of companies since first appearing on the cover of the Swimsuit issue just because she's attractive. She has the kind of personality that seems to draw people to her. She's easy to work with in the hustle-and-bustle worlds of modeling and show biz.
Make no mistake about it, Upton has worked for her fame. The increase in offers from high-profile companies is proof enough.
