Georgia Gives Richt a Raise

ATHENS - Mark Richt has received a raise to make his pay a bit more commensurate with his peers, and the Georgia football team's recent performance.
Richt's annual salary was raised to from $2.8 million to $3.2 million on Tuesday. His contract was also extended one year, and now runs through 2017.
Athletics director Greg McGarity said he and Richt agreed on the new contract when they met on Monday afternoon. The reason for the raise, according to McGarity, was "just the tremenous job he's done leading our program. Twelve wins. The manner in which he has done it. It's just something we felt like we needed to do."
