The Mets had a competitive four-year offer out to Michael Bourn, but would not have signed the free-agent outfielder unless the 11th overall pick in the draft became protected, a major league source told ESPNNewYork.com. Bourn instead opted for a four-year, $48 million deal with the Cleveland Indians, The Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes tweeted.
