Yankees and Patriots: Big-Money Teams Can't Close

Sound familiar?

Sure it does. I can't think of one high-cap team that's actually closed the deal in the past five years.

This year, the Patriots were phenomenal. No question about it. But they lost the one game that mattered more than any of the regular season games.

The Yankees have maintained the highest salary cap in baseball for the past several years and have fallen out of contention to the Boston Red Sox.

What is it?

I have just the answer for you. Take the Oceans movies for example. Oceans 11, 12, and 13—good movies I will agree, but not great movies—follow me so far?

So much money and great actors were poured into those movies, and it just didn't jive like it should have.

The same hold's for the Yankees and Patriots. There are too many great players on these teams.

You see, when you fill a team with multiple leaders, you have a conflicting chemistry. The Yankees had it made when just Jeter was the man on the team, the guy to look up to. Now add A-Rod to the mix? Doesn't work.

It seemed to be working for the Patriots, but they couldn't close in the Super Bowl. Who do you turn to in times like these? Is Randy Moss the guy to lead the Patriots? How about Tom Brady? Or is it in fact the greedy coach behind Bill Belichick?

It's like Coach Sean Payton said, "It's not the best group of guys, it's the right group of guys," and this is true in all sports.
