The Avalanche had such a nice blueprint for this season.
The team had banked another year of maturity for its young core players from a close-call run at the playoffs last season. The Avs would put to use their lessons learned from that experience. This season, they would find a way inside the velvet ropes containing the top eight playoff teams and finally start to reclaim some of their proud heritage.
