Less than a week stands between the WWE universe and the 2013 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, and the excitement about which stars must shine before WrestleMania 29 has the wrestling world abuzz.

This is the final PPV before WrestleMania, and the storylines and the direction will start to fully blossom at this Sunday’s show. The WWE has huge plans for the April supershow, and that groundwork will be laid at Elimination Chamber.

All of the following stars must shine this weekend if the WWE wants to properly set the stage for the next six weeks of programming leading into WrestleMania 29.

The Shield

The Shield has caused chaos on every episode of Raw it has infiltrated, but the trio—made up of young stars Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns—must walk out of the Elimination Chamber PPV looking as dominant as ever.

Whether the trio wins or loses, it must look strong against its opponents and the biggest faces in the company, John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus.

The WWE is going to want Cena to win in this six-man tag match heading into the main event of WrestleMania 29, but there is nowhere for The Shield to go after facing the three biggest faces in the company.

Look for this match to end in disqualification—possibly with the help of Brock Lesnar—with Cena getting the win he needs and The Shield still being able to stand tall at the end of the bout.

Alberto Del Rio

The WWE took a huge risk turning Alberto Del Rio face, but the instant reaction he received and his success since winning the World Heavyweight Championship proves that this gutsy call was well worth it.

Del Rio will square off against the Big Show at Elimination Chamber, but the champion must retain his title cleanly to end the feud and look as strong as possible heading into WrestleMania 29.

With the retaining champion forced to defend the title at WrestleMania against the winner of the No. 1 contender’s Elimination Chamber match, the likelihood that Del Rio loses that bout or gets cashed-in on is through the roof.

The WWE has to make him look strong for one last PPV.

John Cena

Many fans will claim that John Cena doesn’t need to look strong in a match ever again, but this year’s situation is different. Cena needs to walk out of the six-man tag team match against The Shield looking worthy of a shot at the WWE Championship.

If the WWE is going to give the fans The Rock vs. Cena II, it better be for the WWE title and each star must look incredibly strong coming into the show to make it believable.

As long as Cena and his partners, Ryback and Sheamus, win Sunday, that will be accomplished.

Even if the face trio wins the match via disqualification—a new member could possibly join The Shield and help it beat the heroes down—the victory and assault would still allow Cena, Ryback and Sheamus to walk away looking strong.
