The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry, has returned to WWE just in time for a huge WrestleMania 29 match.
However, where does he fit? Who will his opponent be?
The next six weeks will determine Mark Henry’s place at WrestleMania 29, but let’s take a look at three possible options for the former world heavyweight champion.
Wins Elimination Chamber match
Mark Henry has been announced as one of the participants in the Elimination Chamber match this month. The winner will face the world heavyweight champion at WrestleMania 29. With Henry’s monster heel character back, he could have the opportunity to win the title.
Alberto Del Rio is likely to retain his title against the Big Show once again at WWE Elimination Chamber 2013, meaning a heel should challenge him at WrestleMania. Although Dolph Ziggler cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase is a possibility at any time, it seems unlikely.
Ziggler wasn’t even on Raw last Monday. Henry, on the other hand, continues to be featured as his dominant self. He is the only heel announced so far for the Elimination Chamber match, making him the favorite to win.
It was widely expected to see Ryback against the Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29. Now that Big Show is not champion, this match seems unlikely. At the same time, Mark Henry would be a much better fit to face Ryback anyway.
The idea of Ryback against Big Show stood for one opportunity—the chance for Ryback to deliver Shell Shock to Big Show. Other than that, the match had little value. Big Show is nowhere near the monster heel Mark Henry is. Big Show is often looked at as a big, giant goofball. Henry, on the other hand, consistently appears dominant.
Having Ryback shell shock Mark Henry would be epic and a much more believable fued. The monster babyface against the true monster heel.
The least likely of these options would be Mark Henry challenging the Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania 29.
If the Undertaker does have a match at WrestleMania, and that is a big if, his opponent will most likely be CM Punk. However, it makes the most sense to have CM Punk in a triple threat match against John Cena and The Rock for the WWE title.
Therefore, if the Undertaker chooses to have a match at WrestleMania, and CM Punk is already booked in the WWE title match, Mark Henry would be a good fit.
WWE is trying to build Mark Henry as the most dominant Superstar in the company right now and ending the streak would certainly accomplish that.
When considering Alberto Del Rio, Ryback and The Undertaker, who is most likely to go one-on-one with the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry at WrestleMania 29?
Ryback seems to make the most sense, but it would not be surprising to see Henry challenge for his old championship belt. The Undertaker is clearly the least likely.
