Maryland struggled most of the day. Whether it was their shooting, or attempting to defend Virginia, Maryland couldn’t put it all together and come back against their biggest rivals. After falling behind early, Maryland let a slow start in the second half be their undoing as Virginia got it to double digits quickly and Maryland couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch.

Coach Turgeon didn’t want to make excuses, but the Terps and their coach seemed to point to a late-night on Thursday after the Virginia Tech game as the main reason for their struggles on Sunday afternoon. A late tip combined with a delayed flight and other travel issues were the culprit.
