Boston College put in a terrific effort, but Duke escaped with a 62-61 win in a thriller at Chestnut Hill. The win gives the Blue Devils an outstanding chance to re-re-recapture the No. 1 ranking in tomorrow's polls.
Duke got 37 points combined from Mason Plumlee (who also had 11 rebounds) and Seth Curry in the victory. The Blue Devils' much-maligned rebounders won the battle on the glass, 27-26, including 10 offensive boards that turned into a barrage of second-chance points.
B.C.'s Olivier Hanlan got 11 of his game-high 20 from the free-throw line in the losing cause. Hanlan got a decent look at a game-winning shot in the final seconds, but couldn't knock down the floater in the paint.
Eagle star Ryan Anderson got his usual 17 points, but was held to just six rebounds by a Duke team that came out with far more energy in the second half.
