At 6’6", 280 pounds, Trout joins four others already aboard next year's class.
Ohio State struggled recruiting the offensive line in 2013, but they have rebounded nicely and have secured two so far for 2014, the other being four-star Marcelys Jones from Cleveland's Glenville High School. There's no doubt that the offensive line is the biggest priority for Ohio State and it looks like this need will be addressed early in the process.
Just days after the Buckeyes finished with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation according to Scout.com, coach Meyer is putting Ohio State in a position to repeat the recruiting title in 2014.
With the Buckeyes having a veteran offensive line this upcoming season, Trout should have an opportunity to compete for a spot when he finally steps on campus. This commitment should please Buckeye Nation as the Ohio State coaching staff seems to want to put a wall around Ohio this year, after going more national for the 2013 class.
The 2014 class could be smaller in terms of quantity, but not necessarily quality. There is a limit of 82 commitments from scholarships for Ohio State. The caliber of players definitely will be reviewed by scouts and coaches, so we shouldn't see the Buckeyes taking chances on many lesser-known prospects.
Trout's commitment this early into the game suggests that Ohio State was near the top of his recruiting board.
