B/R NFL 1000 2013: An Introduction

Matt Miller@nfldraftscoutNFL Draft Lead WriterFebruary 11, 2013

As our first position group is announced, we're sure many of you are wondering: What exactly is the B/R NFL 1,000?

Over the next several weeks, we'll be unveiling a ranking of the top 1,000 players in the NFL based on the 2012 season—and only the 2012 season. Players were scouted and graded by myself and a team of experienced evaluators. From those notes, we've compiled the scouting reports you'll see in the series, as well as all the grades and rankings that will follow.

The B/R 1,000 series' goal is to answer a simple question: Who would you want most if you were building a team for the 2013 season, based only on play from 2012?

While we'll start by ranking players at each position, we've tried to throw out things like positional value in our overall scoring system so that quarterbacks aren't unfairly weighted above their counterparts at other positions. You'll notice that even though many quarterbacks are ranked high, they aren't always on top.

We hope you enjoy the series.
