FT Analysis:

An unbelievable result for Southampton. Pochettino's first win will feel even sweeter on a day where their relegation rivals came up short. The home side outplayed a poor Manchester City throughout and thoroughly deserved the victory.

Questions must be asked about Mancini's team selection. Javi Garcia looked uncomfortable at centreback and Samir Nasri showed little effort in midfield. Once again the Italian opted to change things by bringing on attacking full-backs, a strange move when Scott Sinclair was on the bench.

All things considered, a terrible day for the visitors. Hart and Barry won't be sleeping easy tonight.

90+2'— Southampton whittling down the time with a spell of possession. Maicon wins the ball and plays a forward pass to Aguero, who is brilliantly halted by Hooiveld.

89'— Zabaleta wins a corner. Kolarov swings the ball in but is halted by Boruc's punch once more. Milner's second cross flies out for a goal kick.

89'— City working hard to break down this Southampton defence. The home side deserve Sunday off, they have played with impressive determination.

86'— Boruc punches Maicon's cross clear. Milner eventually delivers a decent ball that is hauled forward by the Saints defence.

85'— Roberto Mancini is going crazy on the sideline as City concede a free kick. Lip readers at the ready.

84'— Rodriguez latches onto a fantastic through ball. Unfortunately, he is flagged offside.

83'— Lallana breaks into the box. Southampton really aren't trying to score here, instead focusing on keeping possession.

82'— Clichy's long ball is cut out. City throwing greater numbers into the box as Southampton slowly move forward.

79'— Kolarov wins and delivers a corner. His cross allows Southampton to break, Hart cuts out the danger.

SAINTS SUB: Ward-Prowse comes on for S. Davis.

77'— City enjoying possession but aren't creating many chances. Southampton looking less likely to break forward now.

76'— City moving up the pitch more often now. Can Southampton keep the energy high as we head into the last 15 minutes?

76'— Maicon loses the ball to Lallana. City quickly win possession and begin a barrage of short passes. Kolarov crosses from the left but Southampton bodies suffocate the ball into Boruc's gloves.

73'— No real action in the last 10 minutes as both sides chop and change. Southampton keep pressuring blue shirts across the board.

72'— Lambert's ball heads towards Cork in the middle. The youngster shoots high and wide.

CITY SUB: Maicon replaces Silva.

71'— SOUTHAMPTON SUB: Richardson replaces a hobbling Danny Fox.

69'— Dzeko spins on the edge of the box and doesn't get a shot away. The resulting corner is met with strong defence from Southampton. City sustain pressure until Kolarov's cross leads Yaya into committing a foul.

67'— Mancini obviously aiming for greater attacking threat. The champions are without a recognised centreback now.

65'— Decent play from Saints. Lambet's pass finds Schneiderlin on the edge of the box, who fires well wide.
