Martin Mayhew: Lions to Be 'Players' in Free Agency

Hours after cutting ties with Kyle Vanden Bosch, Stephen Peterman, and Titus Young, Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew made it clear that he won't be standing on the sidelines once the free-agent market opens early next month.

"We were non-players in free agency last year. I do think that we plan to make some moves," Mayhew said via the Lions official website. "We need to make some changes. Obviously, things aren't going in the right direction."
