When the Lakers get Andrew Bynum back, they will more than likely be unstoppable.

When you have star guard Kobe Bryant and star power forward Pau Gasol along with Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, and Andrew Bynum you have a good low post and outside shooting team that is unstoppable.

Last year, Bynum was averaging 7.8 points per game with 1.56 blocks per game and 5.90 rebounds while only playing 20 minutes a game.

This year he is averaging 13.1 points per game with 2.06 blocks per game and 10.2 rebounds in 30 minutes a game.

Add that to what Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Lamar Odom average and you have one hell of a playoff team.

And if the other four starters can stay health when Bynum's back, they can't be beat.

  1. I do agree that I think the Lakers will be a force to be reckoned with when he comes back. However, there will be some iffy situations here. For one, it's going to take him at least a few games to get back into game shape. He's not going to come back and make a huge impact immediately. The other thing one must wonder about is how he and Gasol will play together. I don't think there'll be much for issues since Pau is more of a high post player and Bynum is the epitome of a true center, but there still has to be some chemistry, and they haven't had any chances to get that yet. So, they might struggle a little bit early on, but I think they'll be very good in the end.

  2. even without pau gasol or andrew bynum the lakers are still kinda tough 2 beat.......when they get this guys back i dont think dat their gone lose a game and plus with tha way their bench is playing this year there is no way that their going to lose and when they face the celtics its going to be a hell of game to watch and one of the nba's greatest games....but 2 me celtics have only 45% chance of winning and the lakers have 55% chance of winning and they have about 75% percent chance of being the nba champions and going to tha finals if everybody plays like a real proffesoinal in the offseason..

    1. how exactly do those percentages make any sense?

I think the beauty of this year is that close to 10 teams have just as good a chance to win it as any.

Spurs, can you ever count them out?
Suns, they are getting better as the season winds down
Celtics, best record in the league and have owned western competition
      Pistons, see Spurs
Lakers, comeback year with a strong team
Hornets, can Paul continue his cinderella run?
Mavs, with a healthy Dirk they can makea run, very hungry team
Rockets, though they have slipped, the winning streak was not a fluke

So lets not crown anyone the clear favorite yet, lets just enjoy what is shaping up to be a classic playoff year.

  3. I'd be a very nervous fan if I was a Laker's fan right now, which I'm not. There is no time to acclimate to players and on top of that, two starters, one being the team superstar, are playing with injuries plus you have Bynum and Gasol. (Just how many games does Gasol need to get that ankle working again?) The time is now when one loss literally can mean going from first to fifth in this crazy but exciting Western conference race.

  4. Well, for one, the Mavs are done. Dirk is not healthy is going to be out for AT LEAST another 10 days or so. Even then, they were playing terrible before he got injured. They were 13-11 in the last two months before he got hurt and just 9-7 with Kidd. They were on their way down and I projected them to get surpassed by Denver (note my article on it) even before Dirk got hurt. Now that he's down, it just seems inevitable to me.

    1. if he gets healthy, there is a month left, the Mavs could make a run

    2. That's a very big if. And even then, they were playing terrible even before he went down. Jason Kidd is not a good fit on that team because of the offense they run, which is why his presence hasn't been felt. The only way they make the playoffs is if they either step it up on defense, which they haven't done this year, or if Avery allows for a more free flowing offense instead of his isolation offense that he runs. Also, Dirk has to be healthy, and again, he's going to miss at least another week and maybe even more.

  5. Dirk is like one of the "Hero" characters. He magically self-heals in no time flat. I expect he won't miss more than a few games, even though that was one gnarly looking fall. Gasol on the other hand, what the hell is taking so long? He better watch out or Kobe is gonna started berating him to the media or at least to someone callous enough to secretly tape and sell his comments. Not that he has to worry that there are people in LA who would do that. Oh wait....

  6. bynum is one if the ony 2 true back to the basket centers in the NBA right now..n he was averaging all star numbers before getting hurt..gasol is an established all star player..n has a one of highest basketball iqs in the nba specially for c/pf standards. odom is versatality personified and is back in forms..he fills the gaps on a daily basis ..fisher is a true leader..although not as athletic or productive as onw would want..but keeps the teams morale high n is a overall above average player...the bench has proved themselves time and again..n is arguably the best in the entire league..i wont even bother to write about the best player on the planet. n there you have a team that is solid from all ends..
the only ifs are gasol/bynum bynum/rest of the team blending. n lil playoff experience as the team is young..i wouldnt worry much about gasol n bynum blendin in..specially gasol adjusting to a new spot..just look at how he became a part of the triangle in no time.. Jackson is an experienced and inteliigent coach n well equipped to handle the situation as anyone..injuries have plagued lakers all through the season n they are still one of the top west. without these injuries. i have no doubt in my mind that the lakers will reach the final and have chances as good as the celtics if not better for the ring.
