February can be a depressing month. The football season comes to a close, winter is at its most fierce and there is an entire month to wait until March Madness begins.
So it's brilliant that the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition hits newstands in February and brightens this otherwise drab month.
Last year we saw Kate Upton explode upon the scene and win the hearts and minds—well, maybe eyes—of men across America. Which model will win our affections this year? And when is the issue even coming out?
You have questions, I have information. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming Swimsuit Edition.
Release Date: Tuesday, Feb. 12
Cover Announcement: Monday, Feb. 11 on the Late Show with David Letterman at 11:35 p.m. ET. The cover model will then return to the show to be interviewed the next evening.
Behind the Scenes Footage: Sports Illustrated: The Making of Swimsuit '13 - 7 Continents, 17 Wonders premieres Sunday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. ET on the Travel Channel
Locations: For this year's shoot, Sports Illustrated shot on all seven continents in locales including Namibia, China, Australia, Easter Island and, yes, Antarctica. I can't imagine that was a pleasant location for the models.
Potential Cover Candidates and Models of Note
The three models receiving the most buzz for the cover this year seem to be Nina Agdal, Katherine Webb and Hannah Davis.
But rumours are swirling that stunning Danish model Nina Agdal has scooped the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
The 20-year-old has already posed for the issue—out on February 12—and is believed to have beaten off stiff competition from top contenders, Katherine Webb and Derek Jeter's girlfriend, Hannah Davis, sources tell MailOnline.
All three would be excellent choices. Agdal recently was seen in a sexy Carl's Jr eating a fish sandwich.
Meanwhile, you know Webb as Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend and the woman Brent Musburger swooned over during the broadcast of the national championship.
And Davis is just the latest gorgeous woman Jeter is dating. What a life that dude leads.
Who should be on the cover?
If I were a betting man, I'd imagine Webb would get the cover. She's the hottest name out there right now among the models and would generate the level of buzz Kate Upton received when she got the cover next year.
And that, folks, is good for sales, though the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition doesn't exactly struggle to sell copies. Still, Webb would bring a ton of publicity, so she's the favorite in my book.
