The United States men's soccer team has traveled to Honduras for its first match in the final stage of World Cup qualifying.
After holding off a frantic Honduran attack for the first 15 minutes, the U.S. began to fight back. Though it was still largely against the run of play, the Americans went ahead in the 36th minute on a lovely volley from Clint Dempsey off a terrific chip from Jermaine Jones.
But Honduras didn't waste any time in jumping back into the match.
In the 40th minute, a Honduran corner kick was floated well over the goalmouth. But the ball was saved by a Honduras attacker and played back into the middle.
After a lovely chested pass back across the box, the ball sat up nicely for defender Juan Carlos Garcia.
Garcia finished with one of the more athletic and powerful bicycle kicks you're likely to see for some time.
Thanks to a 79th-minute tally from Honduras' Jerry Bengtson, the U.S. side went on to a well-deserved 2-1 loss.
