There are fans of specific sports who will look forward to one moment or championship and consider it the best moment of the year. However, the great thing about sports is that the fun keeps going all year round.

People might debate what truly is the best sports month of the year. The biggest problem with this question is that some of the major sporting events have changed in the past few years.

March Madness no longer ends in March, the Superbowl has been pushed back to February, and if Reggie Jackson still played today he would be known as Mr. November because that is when the World Series is played.

So what is the one month that every sports fan can appreciate? To answer this, one has to look at the major events that take place throughout the year and when the biggest sports are at the most interesting times.

Here is the countdown of the best times of the year.

No. Three: February

As previously mentioned, February has received a large boost in popularity ever since the Superbowl has been pushed back a week. But, when you take the championship game of the most popular sport in America, you will create a month that sports fans will look forward to. This is such a big event that millions of people will watch the game despite not being able to name a single player on the field.

Another sport that has quickly become a fan favorite is NASCAR. This sport has the strange ability to have its most popular event at the start of the season. The Daytona 500 takes place in February and it lets racing fans know that the season is coming.

With the most popular sports having their big days, plus the NHL, NBA, and College Basketball races all heating up, February keeps the attention of most sports fans.

No. 2: November

November has the distinction as the month that contains the greatest amount of major sports competition. The NBA and NHL have both started and fans of each are able to remember how much they miss their teams.

In College Basketball, preseason tournaments are taking place. These games contain the best non-conference match-ups fans will see until the NCAA tournament starts.

The NFL is in full swing and is starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders. College Football is full of teams either trying to keep their undefeated records or spend their time staring at the BCS.

And perhaps the best moment of November is the ending of the World Series. Although it does not have the glamor of the Superbowl, the Fall Classic never seems to disappoint. There is just something about the old school love of the game that the players seem to show, even when they reach the sport's highest level.

No.1: April

What other month contains so many great sports moments. April contains so many great times that I even put the showing of "One Shining Moment" on my list of things to look forward to. This song obviously follows the Final Four, which also happens to take place in April, where the champion of college basketball is crowned.

Right after the Final Four ends, fans have to go back outdoors to see the start of the baseball season. Although it is a long 162 game season, fans just love the ability to see their teams again and say "this is our year."

Not a fan of either of these? Well then you just have to wait one more week to see the "Tradition unlike any other." The Masters Championship also takes place in April, just in time for Tiger Woods to make his triumphant return to the sport. It is a tournament that presents one of the most unique prizes to the winner: a green jacket.

Only a fan of the NFL? Well don't worry, April has something for you too. The NFL draft is the great equalizer that creates parody in a very competitive sport. Each team is looking for their next franchise quarterback or simply the missing piece for a championship run. The draft gives every team hope for the future.

All of these events, plus the beginning of the NBA playoffs, gives fans of each sport a little something to cheer for. This decides that April is hands down the best sports month on the calendar.
