The Monday, February 4 edition of Monday Night Raw, which was from Atlanta, Georgia, opened with a video package recapping John Cena's quest to capture the WWE Championship belt at WrestleMania and Brock Lesnar's shocking return on last week's show.
CM Punk heads to the ring in frustration. He begins to taunt the audience and says that he should still be the WWE champion. Punk walks outside the ring and asks people in the crowd whether he was in the video that showed Paul Heyman admitting last week on Raw to Brad Maddox that The Shield was asked to protect the former WWE champion.
Punk puts the blame on Vince McMahon, accusing him of hiring another person to imitate Heyman in the video. He continues to claim that he is the true champion and grants The Rock a rematch at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view for the title belt.
SmackDown's General Manager Booker T comes out to the entrance way and tells Punk he will either face Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and/or Chris Jericho in a match later on Monday Night Raw.
Match No. 1: Ryback vs. Antonio Cesaro
Your winner via pin fall: Ryback. No complaints in this opening match, as Ryback and Cesaro had a good battle considering that they have such different wrestling styles. This was a power vs. technical match, which saw Ryback come away with the win.
Match Rating: 3/5.
A video package is shown of The Shield's impact on the WWE roster. Backstage, Cena talks to Guerrero about what he is planning for The Shield.
Match No. 2: Santino Marella vs. Jack Swagger
Your winner via submission: Jack Swagger. This was a very short match, as Swagger manhandled Marella in the ring. It appears the WWE is trying to get Swagger back into the spotlight and a quick victory over Marella on Raw was the starting point for his comeback.
Match Rating: 2/5.
Match No. 3: Alberto Del Rio vs. Cody Rhodes
Your winner via submission: Alberto Del Rio. Rhodes, as it was announced by WWE announcer Michael Cole, looked pretty good as a singles wrestler since breaking away from his former tag team partner, Damien Sandow. Meanwhile, Del Rio looked even stronger in this match.
Match Rating: 3/5.
After the match, Del Rio thanked everyone for their support. As Del Rio was speaking, the Big Show told the WWE World Heavyweight champion that he stole his title and demanded a rematch at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
WWE announcer Jerry Lawler grabbed the microphone and revealed the voting details regarding which wrestler will face Punk in a match. The entrance way screen showed that Jericho won by a landslide against Orton and Mysterio.
Match No. 4: Rey Mysterio vs. Daniel Bryan
Your winner via submission: Daniel Bryan. Enjoyable match between two fundamentally sound technical wrestlers. Although it was not a long match, it served its purpose to have Bryan impress before the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
Match Rating: 3.5/5.
In another shocking return to the WWE, Mark Henry came out to the ring and attacked both Bryan and Mysterio. Sin Cara attempted to distract Henry, but he was quickly power-slammed to the ring mat.
Match No. 5: Sheamus vs. Kane
Your winner via pin fall: Sheamus. Bryan cost Kane the potential victory by coming out to the ring and distracting him. This allowed Sheamus to hit the big boot for the pin fall. Nothing spectacular with this match, as it was more of a slow-paced battle.
Match Rating: 3/5.
The Miz, who is standing in the ring after a commercial break, welcomes everyone to "Miz TV." Heyman introduces himself by telling The Miz to stop talking. Heyman wishes McMahon his best and begins to talk about Lesnar. As The Miz and Heyman are confronting each other, Guerrero interrupts the segment by making her way to the ring.
Guerrero admitted that she persuaded Lesnar to return to Monday Night Raw last week. She asks for everyone to pray for McMahon, but The Miz fires back, which upsets Heyman and Guerrero. Suddenly, Lesnar's music plays. As Lesnar gets into the ring, he approaches The Miz. After a quick brawl, Lesnar delivers a F-5 on The Miz.
Match No. 6: Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
Your winner via pin fall: Randy Orton. Another rough loss for Barrett, who has been on the losing end of matches recently. Orton is getting a stronger push as the Elimination Chamber draws closer.
Match Rating: 3/5.
Match No. 7: Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk
Your winner via pin fall: CM Punk. A terrific main event match on Raw. There was plenty of solid in-ring work by Punk and Jericho, as both had great chemistry.
Match Rating: 4/5.
WWE aired a video package of Bruno Sammartino, who joins Mick Foley, Trish Stratus and Bob Buckland in the 2013 Hall of Fame class. In a hotel hallway, Del Rio attempts to attack the Big Show. However, the Big Show gains control early. Del Rio eventually regains control and knocks out the Big Show with a fire extinguisher.
Back in the ring, Brad Maddox begins to talk about what happened to him recently with Heyman. He titles himself an innocent individual. Maddox calls out The Shield to the ring and tells them that justice will be served.
The Shield surround Maddox in the ring. Maddox struggles against the group, but then Cena, Ryback and Sheamus storm to the ring to brawl with The Shield. Cena, Ryback and Sheamus force The Shield outside the ring as Monday Night Raw closes.
