Mauro Icardi has been one of the revelations in Serie A this season.

The Argentine was previously part of the famous Barcelona academy La Masia but never graduated to the first team, despite flattering comparisons with three-time Ballon D'Or winner Lionel Messi.

Icardi shot to prominence when Samp pulled off a remarkable victory at the Juventus Stadium, defeating the Bianconeri thanks to a double from the 19-year-old starlet.

The second goal was an unstoppable finish, rifled into the roof of the net from a tight angle, alerting many of Europe's biggest clubs to the possibility of signing one of Europe's hottest prospects.

Despite being born in Argentina, Icardi holds an Italian passport, which has attracted Azzurri manager Cesare Prandelli to the prospect of calling up the Samp forward.

Check out the video attached for a glimpse of Icardi's potential and why so many clubs have started to queue for his signature.

Icardi's contract at Sampdoria runs until 2015, and given that the player signed from Barcelona for just €300,000, the Blucerchiati are in line for a huge profit, especially if you consider that Napoli have reportedly already bid €12 million.

It is promising that Serie A is able to continue to bring out the best in young players and still be an attractive league despite losing a Champions League place to the Bundesliga last year and tending to be unable to match the wages that clubs in the Premier League and La Liga can offer.

Certainly Icardi is shining in calcio and it will be well worth tuning in to see this talent blossom into the top-class striker that he promises to be.
