Ray Lewis' career went out with a bang as his Baltimore Ravens prevailed over the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII.

Jim Nantz interviewed Lewis on the podium following the game. With Lombardi Trophy in hand, Lewis was quick to thank God, asking how would it be possible for the Ravens to lose with God on their side.

He was also very quick to praise his teammates and Baltimore fans in attendance for ensuring that he went out on top.

With his imminent retirement after the game now official, it's the perfect ending for a player who is one of the greatest ever at his position. No matter what your opinion is of Lewis' persona or off-field history, there's no debating what he accomplished during his career.

The Ravens played inspired football knowing that this would be the swansong for Lewis. They defied the odds all postseason and continued that run against the 49ers.

The linebacker didn't have the greatest game of his career, but Baltimore still pulled out the victory. He finished second on the team in tackles, with seven.

It was fitting that Ed Reed also had a very good game, recording an interception. Both he and Lewis have been such fantastic leaders for the Ravens over the past 11 years.

With Lewis retiring and Reed possibly leaving as a free agent, it's appropriate for the two to end their Baltimore careers by winning the Super Bowl.
