STORRS — Shabazz Napier scored 24 points, 11 of them coming in overtime, as UConn escaped its home court with a 69-64 victory over last-place South Florida in Big East men’s basketball before 9,205 at Gampel Pavilion on Sunday.

Napier scored 13 points in regulation play, missing a three-point shot at the buzzer as the game went to OT, tied at 52. But he hit three-point shots on each of UConn’s first three possessions in OT, and the Huskies (15-5, 5-3 in the Big East) were able to hold on, winning another game that, on paper, they should have lost. They scored just 15 points in the first half, shot 26 percent from the floor in regulation. They were out-rebounded for the 15th time this season, though it was close (43 to 43), and had 10 turnovers.
