Robert Griffin III Receives Special Rookie of the Year Socks from Adidas

Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III's creativity expands far beyond his talent on the gridiron.

In addition to picking opposing defenses apart through the air and on the ground, the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year loves his socks. In response to RG3's most recent accomplishment, winning ROY honors, Adidas has decided to reward him with a pair of its brand new Team Speed socks:

Stylish socks like the ones above and sometimes not-so-stylish socks have been associated with Griffin for a long time, since his days with the Baylor Bears

He made news for these Superman socks at the 2011 Heisman Trophy ceremony, and then again this past fall for handing out socks for Halloween.

But don't let RG3's sock obsession fool you. The dual-threat passer was sensational during his rookie season in 2012, helping lead the Redskins to a 10-6 record and the franchise's first NFC East championship since 1999.

Although Griffin suffered another knee injury in the team's NFC Wild Card playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the former Heisman Trophy winner had a year to remember. He completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 3,200 yards, scored 27 total touchdowns (seven rushing) and threw only five interceptions.

Griffin beat out fellow rookie signal-callers Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson comfortably, picking up 29 votes, while Luck and Wilson garnered 11 and 10, respectively.

Griffin is currently recovering from January surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his knee.
