When the score doesn’t finish in their favor — and that happens more often than not against teams above .500 — the Nets don’t just lose. They crumble. They sulk. They watch the game get out of hand.

Brooklyn’s last eight losses all have been by at least 13 points, with an 18.6 average margin of defeat. Deron Williams agrees that at least part of the problem is the lack of passion and pride from the Nets (28-19), an attitude that allows deficits to swell and losses to get accepted well before the final buzzer..
