You would be surprised to find how age has been somewhat kind to the wide receiver position..
Jerry Rice had three thousand yard seasons after he turned 35.
There have been many great seasons by a wide receiver after he turned 35 and played well beyond anybody's expectations.
9. Chris Carter, 35, 2000
At the age of 35 Chris Carter recorded 96 receptions, 1,274 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings in 2000.
8. Tim Brown, 35, 2001
At the age of 35, Tim Brown recorded 91 receptions, 1,165 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns for the Oakland Raiders in 2001.
7. Jerry Rice, 40, 2002
Another Raider. The following year in 2002, Jerry Rice outdid Tim Brown.
At the age of 40, he recorded 92 receptions, 1,211 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.
6. Shannon Sharpe, 35, 2003
Shannon Sharpe was the only tight end on the list.
In his final season as a pro, he recorded 62 receptions, 770 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns for the Broncos.
5. Jimmy Smith, 35, 2004
Very underrated player for the Jaguars.
Recorded 74 receptions, 1,172 receiving yards, and six touchdowns.
Should be noted that in 2005, he had similar numbers at the age of 36.
4. Rod Smith, 35, 2005
Rod Smith recorded 85 receptions, 1,105 receiving yards, and six touchdowns for the Denver Broncos.
3. Joey Galloway, 35, 2006
Still going strong at age 38.
In the middle of Joey's 2005-2007 resurgence.
In 2006 he recorded 62 catches, 1,057 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.
2. Bobby Engram, 34 and 35, 2007
He played the regular season at age 34 and turned 35 on January sixth, 2008 while his team was in the playoffs.
For Engram, 2007 marked the only season in which he had over 1,000 yards receiving.
Engram recorded 94 receptions, 1,147 receiving yards, and six touchdowns.
1. Terrell Owens, 35, 2008
Last year T.O. recorded 69 receptions, 1,052 receiving yards, and 10 Touchdowns.
Who will it be in 2009?
The answer is Terrell Owens. He will open up passing lanes for Lee Evans and James Hardy by being double teamed almost every game. But that will not prevent Trent Edwards from throwing to T.O.
Whom I predict will have his 11th 1,000 yard season for the Bills.
