EAST LANSING – The way Michigan State coach Tom Izzo saw it, Branden Dawson had 12 points and nine rebounds in Thursday's 80-75 win against Illinois while playing one of his worst games of the season.

Dawson was 4-for-5 from the field and perfect from the free-throw line, but also committed four turnovers. In preparation for the game, Izzo had demanded more from him.
