The Oklahoma Sooners' 2013 recruiting class is extremely solid, so Bob Stoops and his staff deserve a lot of credit.

They were able to go out and get some major recruits, and the future of Oklahoma's program is extremely bright.

Is it as bright as Oklahoma's past? That still remains to be seen, but Stoops is setting the Sooners up very nicely, and this class should end up being very good.

Let's get to know Oklahoma's 2013 recruiting class.

L.J Moore is a very talented cornerback recruit. He has very good size at 6'2'', 185 pounds and he runs a 4.50 according to 247Sports. He could turn out to be a big pickup for the Sooners, and he could be a shutdown corner.

Analysis

Quincy Russell is a very important recruit for Oklahoma, and he'll compete to play right away for the Sooners. Oklahoma needs depth at defensive tackle now that Stacy McGee, Jamarkus McFarland and Casey Walker have all moved on. Russell will be able to come in and compete with Marquis Anderson for the starting job, and he'll at least be a big part of the rotation.

Analysis:

Jed Barnett should be the starting punter for Oklahoma as a freshman. He's the No. 1 ranked JUCO punter according to the 247Sports Composite, so he's a big-time special teams pickup for the Sooners.

Analysis

Keith Ford will eventually be a star running back for Oklahoma, but he's going to have to wait his turn behind Damien Williams and Brennan Clay. He could end up being a good No. 3 option as a freshman though, or he may want to take a redshirt season. Ford is the No. 3 overall running back according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Analysis:

Stanvon Taylor is a big-time wide receiver recruit and he should be able to work his way into the rotation as a backup in year one. He'll be behind the likes of Jalen Saunders, Sterling Shepard, Trey Metoyer, Lacoltan Bester and Derek Woods, but look for Taylor to get a few important reps in his freshman season.

Commit Date: 7/31/12

Analysis

Hatari Byrd is going to compete for starter's minutes right away at safety. He has great size for a player coming out of high school, but he also has the speed to be a difference maker. Byrd runs a 4.50 40 according to 24Sports. Look for him to compete with Gabe Lynn for reps at safety.

Cody Thomas

Via 247Sports

Analysis

Cody Thomas is the No. 8 ranked pro-style quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, so he's a huge recruit for Oklahoma. With Landry Jones gone, Blake Bell should be the starter, but look for Thomas to put himself in position to be the next guy up after Bell. Considering the depth at quarterback, a redshirt year could be smart for Thomas.

Matt Dimon projects to be a good defensive end. He has good height and size at 6'4'', 255 pounds and he runs a 4.80 40 according to 247Sports. Because of his size, he could end up being very valuable against the run, so keep an eye out for him as a freshman. Analysis

Dannon Cavil is a very tall wideout, which will make him a very intriguing option in the red zone. At 6'5'', 205 he projects to be a good possession receiver for Oklahoma, so look for him to crack the rotation in a season or two. As of right now, he may want to redshirt and gain that extra year of eligibility.

Austin Bennett

Via 247Sports
Via 247Sports
Height: 6'1''

Weight: 170 lbs.

Position: WR

Star Ranking: 3-star

School: Manvel High School (Texas)

Senior Stats: 42 REC, 682 REC, 8 TD

Other Finalists: Arkansas

Commit Date: 6/20/12

Analysis

Austin Bennett represent a big state of Texas commitment for Oklahoma, and he's coming in with good measurables at 6'1'', 170 pounds. Much like Cavil, a redshirt year could be the best option. The Sooners are rather set at wideout for 2013.

KJ Young

Analysis

Depth at wide receiver is huge, so K.J. Young is a good commitment for the Sooners. He has good size at 6'0'', 180 pounds and he also represents a big California commitment. He was very productive as a senior in high school, so keep an eye out for Young in a few years.

Matthew Romar
