January transfer deadline day wasn’t quite the crescendo we were hoping for. If you want proof, it can be found in the fact that 37-year-old David Beckham moving to PSG was its biggest story.
The next biggest was perhaps Peter Odemwingie’s ridiculous situation at Queens Park Rangers (more on that here).
But there were a few meaningful deals.
Brazilian midfielder Willian has been doing the business for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League season. So much so, that Russian club Anzhi stumped up to the tune of £34 million for him.
Christopher Samba won’t be there to greet him. The defender joined Harry Redknapp’s quest for survival at Queens Park Rangers.
Other big moves included Arsenal buying a fullback, albeit one who’s cup-tied for their Champions League campaign, and Mario Balotelli completing his move from Manchester City to AC Milan.
