Michigan entered the 2012 campaign with big expectations after winning the Sugar Bowl in the 2011 season.

But the Wolverines finished a disappointing 8-5, losing "The Game" against rival Ohio State and then falling to South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, 33-28.

It came in heart-breaking fashion, too. With Michigan leading, 28-27, Gamecocks quarterback Dylan Thompson connected with receiver Bruce Ellington for a 31-yard touchdown with 11 seconds left to stun the Wolverines.

Michigan had trouble running the football beyond dual-threat quarterback Denard Robinson in 2012 and hopes to improve in that regard in 2013 with Robinson headed to the NFL.
