In the pair's five previous EPL meetings, Chelsea has the edge over Newcastle, 2-1, with the other two matches ending in draws. Chelsea is the bearer of the bragging rights with Newcastle after winning the last match.

Best Storyline: Demba Ba's Return

Demba Ba will be returning to face his old club for the first time since being shipped off to Chelsea during the January transfer window.

The former Newcastle United forward has continued his past success and has already netted three goals with the Blues. Ba is quickly becoming a fan favorite with Chelsea, if he isn't already.

But can Ba come back and make a serious impact against his former club? Or will Newcastle United spoil his welcome home party?

Also, in what fashion will Ba's former fans welcome him back?

These questions will all be answered on Saturday.

What Match Means for Chelsea

The Blues would love to continue their upward climb in the EPL standings, but a loss or draw in this match certainly wouldn't be the end of the world.

Chelsea currently sits in third place in the standings and a whopping 13 points behind the leader, Manchester United. However, a win here would help close the six-point gap separating Chelsea and second-place club, Manchester City.

With a draw in each of its last three matches, Chelsea would love to get a win here and create some more space ahead of Tottenham and Everton.

At this point in the season, Newcastle's chance of finishing in the top four are bleak at best. The club is 35 points behind first place Manchester United, and 18 points behind fourth-place Tottenham.

To say Newcastle needs these points—and every point for that matter—would be a serious understatement.

Things are looking up for Newcastle coming into this match as their last contest with Aston Villa was a winning effort, 2-1. Let's see if this club can carry that momentum in what will be a tough battle to win against Chelsea.

Players to Watch

Chelsea

Demba Ba

The newest addition to this club, Ba has already shown his worth and proven to be an explosive scorer for Chelsea.

A strong and athletic player, Ba has the ability to overpower opposing defenders, but still possesses the speed and ball-handling skills to go around them. Regardless of how he does it, Ba is always looking to score and is a dangerous finisher from anywhere on the field.

Ba has notched three goals with the Blues so far, while adding a single assist to his contributions.

The striker hasn't found the back of the net in his last four matches, so an offensive explosion in this one could become a reality.

Newcastle United

Papiss Cissé

This talented striker once fought with Ba for playing time in Newcastle, but now Cissé has become the man for his club.

With solid speed and a killer instinct, Cissé is a lethal scorer who can create his own goals or finish when set up close to the net. His creativity with the ball helps to unlock opposing defenses and that is a huge plus for his teammates.

Cissé was instrumental in Newcastle's last win over Aston Villa, as the striker netted the first goal of the match. If Newcastle is to win this match, Cissé must stay aggressive and make things happen for his side.
