Les Miles and the LSU Tigers boast a very strong 2013 recruiting class.

LSU has consistently been a contender in the SEC, and Miles' ability as a recruiter is a huge reason why that is possible.

Miles and his staff have put together an impressive group of recruits, and they have incredible potential.

Let's get to know LSU's 2013 recruiting class:

He'll most likely be behind Travis Dickson and he'll compete with DeSean Smith from the 2013 class. Stokes has good size, though, and his experience at the JUCO level and as an early enrollee could help him out.

LSU will probably play him at defensive end, though, where he can come in and compete to start right away. He has great size, athleticism and he runs a 4.83 40, according to 247Sports. He'll be excellent in pass-rushing situations and on the edges of the line of scrimmage. LSU can do a lot with him defensively because of his versatility.

Jeryl Brazil

    School: Loranger High School (La.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: Ole Miss, Arkansas

    Commit Date: 1/20/13

    Analysis

Jeryl Brazil's greatest asset is his speed. He runs a 4.32 40, according to 247Sports, so he'll be great in coverage, especially against quicker slot receivers. He projects to be a great nickel and dime player in a season and two, and his immediate impact can be on special teams.

DeSean Smith

17 of 30
    Height: 6'4.25''

    Weight: 224 lbs

    Position: TE

    Stars: 4-star

    School: Barbe High School (La.)

Senior Stats: 815 YDS, 11 TD

    Other Finalists: Alabama

    Commit Date: 7/2/12

    Analysis

DeSean Smith has the potential to be a legitimate pass-catching tight end for the Tigers. He has good size and terrific speed. He runs a 4.71 40, according to 247Sports. He has the speed to really stretch the defense vertically in the seams, and he could probably even be split out into the slot. LSU should try to find ways to get Smith on the field as a freshman in passing situations.

Rashard Robinson

18 of 30
    Height: 6'2.5''

    Weight: 165 lbs

    Position: CB

    Stars: 4-star

School: Blanche Ely High School (Fla.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Commit Date: 7/31/12

    Analysis

Rashard Robinson has great size for a corner and he fits the LSU mold. At 6'2.5'' he's big enough to really jam receivers at the line, though he may want to put on a bit more muscle mass in the next year or two. Robinson has the size to work his way into the rotation in the secondary as a freshman, and in a few seasons, he has lockdown potential.

Melvin Jones

19 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 245 lbs

    Analysis

Melvin Jones is a big inside linebacker recruit. He has elite size coming out of high school and he's ranked as the No. 13 overall inside linebacker in the 2013 class (247Sports Composite). Jones should be able to compete with Ronnie Fiest for reps at middle linebacker as a freshman. He can also be a standout special teams player right away for LSU.

Quantavius Leslie

20 of 30
    Height: 6'4''

    Weight: 190 lbs

    Analysis

Quantavius Leslie can be a legitimate deep threat and a game-changer for LSU. He has great height at 6'4'' and he runs a 4.50 40, according to 247Sports. He has the speed to stretch the defense vertically, but he can also be a possession receiver because of his size. Look for Leslie to work his way onto the field in red-zone situations as a freshman. He could become a star very quickly for the Tigers.

Maquedius Bain

21 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 308 lbs

    Stars: 4-star

School: University School of Nova South (Fla.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: Miami, Oklahoma, Marshall

    Commit Date: 1/2/13

    Analysis

Maquedius Bain has that same immense potential that Greg Gilmore has at defensive tackle. Bain is a big recruit and should become a big-time player on the interior of LSU's line in the next season or two. He should end up behind Gilmore as a freshman, and in time, he has the potential to be a starter once the depth chart clears.

Andy Dodd

22 of 30
    Height: 6'4''

    Weight: 325 lbs

    Position: OG

    Stars: 4-star

    School: Pepperell High School (Ga.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: Alabama

    Commit Date: 7/20/12

    Analysis

Much like Josh Butte, Dodd is going to be a very important depth player on LSU's offensive line. He's also  going to be Butte's competition for Williford's starting spot, eventually. Dodd has great size at 6'4'', 325 pounds, and he's a big out-of-state recruit for the Tigers.

Michael Patterson

23 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 240 lbs

    Position: WDE

    Stars: 3-star

    School: Winnfield Senior (La.)

    Senior Stats: 69 TCK, 7 TFL, 9 SCK, 2 FF, 2 FR

Other Finalists: Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Nebraska

    Commit Date: 3/28/12

    Analysis

Michael Patterson is a defensive end recruit who will have a chance to make his way into the rotation in the next year or two. He'll be a valuable backup behind Danielle Hunter and Kendell Beckwith at weak-side defensive end, and he'll most likely be an important special teams player.

Rickey Jefferson

24 of 30
    Height: 6'0''

    Weight: 180 lbs

    Position: WR

    Stars: 4-star

    School: Destrehan High School (La.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Michigan State, Notre Dame

    Commit Date: 7/15/12

    Analysis

Ricky Jefferson could be a major deep threat for LSU in time. He has good size and he runs a 4.41 40, according to 247Sports. The depth chart in front of him is pretty solid, but in a season or two, expect to see Jefferson as an option at wideout, where can stretch the defense vertically for LSU.

Tevin Lawson

25 of 30
    Height: 6'4''

    Weight: 275 lbs

    Position: DT

    Stars: 3-star

School: Denham Springs High School (La.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: Ole Miss

    Commit Date: 3/30/12

    Analysis

Tevin Lawson has great potential as a defensive tackle at 6'4'', 275 pounds. He'll be able to play either the 1- or 3-technique, and that versatility will help him make his way up the depth chart. He also represents another big in-state commitment for LSU. In time, Lawson could be a major player on LSU's defensive line.

Karl Malone Jr.

26 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 285 lbs

    Position: C

    Stars: 3-star

    School: Cedar Creek (La.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: N/A

    Commit Date: 3/31/12

    Analysis

Karl Malone Jr. is going to be a very important player for LSU. Elliott Porter should be the starter now that P.J. Lonergan is gone, and Malone has the skill set to compete with Ben Domingue to be the No. 2 guy. Once both Porter and Domingue move on, though, Malone Jr. should be the guy at center for LSU.

Lewis Neal

27 of 30
    Height: 6'1''

    Weight: 235 lbs

    Position: WDE

    Stars: 3-star

School: James B. Hunt High School (N.C.)

    Senior Stats: N/A

    Other Finalists: Tennessee, Ohio State

    Commit Date: 7/4/12

    Analysis

Lewis Neal is another big defensive end recruit for LSU. Needless to say, the Tigers have done a great job replacing both Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery. Considering the depth chart and the amount of defensive ends LSU has brought in through this class, Neal could be a good redshirt candidate.

Jeremy Cutrer

28 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 175 lbs

    Position: S

    Stars: 4-star

School: J. Sumner High School (LA)

Senior Stats: 66 TCK, 4 INT

    Other Finalists: Ole Miss

    Commit Date: 2/6/12

    Analysis

Jeremy Cutrer has been committed to LSU for a long time now, and he's a big safety commitment. He has great size coming out of high school at 6'3'', 175 pounds and he has a lot of potential in LSU's secondary. Cutrer is the No. 9 ranked player from the state of Louisiana (247Sports Composite), so he's also an important in-state commitment for the Tigers.

Kevin Spears

29 of 30
    Height: 6'3''

    Weight: 190 lbs

    Position: WR

    Stars: 4-star

School: Holy Cross High School (La.)

Senior Stats: 61 REC, 1,069 YD, 11 TD

    Other Finalists: Louisiana Tech

    Commit Date: 1/19/13

    Analysis

Kevin Spears has very good size at 6'3'', 190 pounds, and he's another big wideout recruit for LSU. He's also the No. 13 recruit from Louisiana (247Sports Composite), so he's an in-state win for the Tigers. He'll be an important depth player right away and could work his way into the rotation starting as a sophomore and definitely as an upperclassmen.

Duke Riley

30 of 30
    Height: 6'2''

    Weight: 210 lbs

    Position: OLB

    Stars: 3-star

    School: John Curtis (La.)

Senior Stats: 124 TCK, 2 SCK, 2 FR, 1 FRTD

    Other Finalists: TCU

    Commit Date: 1/30/13

    Analysis

LSU was recently able to flip Duke Riley away from TCU. He's a talented in-state recruit, and that will go down as a notable recruiting win for Miles and his staff. The Tigers are pretty set at outside linebacker for now, so Riley may want to consider a redshirt season.
