Veteran first baseman Nick Johnson has decided to retire following a productive but injury-plagued 10-year career, New York's WFAN reported Monday.

The 34-year-old spent last season with the Orioles but played the bulk of his career with the Yankees and Nationals. A patient approach at the plate helped him post a career .399 on-base percentage, along with a .268 batting average, a .441 slugging percentage and 95 home runs.
