Ohio State has a rich history of producing great linebackers.  Chris Spielman, Andy Katzenmoyer, AJ Hawk, and James Laurinaitis are only a fraction of a list that could go on forever.

Recent recruiting of the linebacker position suggests that trend will continue with Urban Meyer bringing in Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson in 2013.

However, in 2014, the Buckeyes could have one of their best linebacker hauls of all time.

Take a look at the potential group of kids that could pick the Scarlet and Grey when signing day rolls around in 2014.

Dante Booker

Start with Dante Booker of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.  247sports lists Ohio State as his favorite.  Booker is the 8th rated outside linebacker prospect according to Scout.com, and there’s no reason why he can’t move up even higher.

At 6'3", Dante has the frame to put on extra muscle and be a force at the collegiate level.  With a state championship already in his pocket, Dante Booker will look to add bigger things to his resume this fall.

Kyle Berger

Staying in Northern Ohio, Kyle Berger is also a prospect with Ohio State listed as one of his early favorites.

Berger had an outstanding junior season, which saw him rack up 10 sacks and 44 tackles for loss.  Ranked as the #2 outside linebacker prospect, Berger’s instincts could be what separates him from the rest.

Kyle Berger is just about as sure as you can be when it comes to tackling, but is also impressive coming off the edge to rush the passer.  A commitment from Berger and Booker would be outstanding, and that’s not even considering the two others on the inside.

Clifton Garrett

Clifton Garrett is Scout’s #2 middle linebacker prospect and 247sports has Ohio State pegged as the leader for arguably the most physical linebacker in this year’s class.

Garrett’s recruitment has taken off as of late, gaining offers from Florida State, Michigan, USC, LSU, and Florida.

With more schools pouring in every day, Garrett had this to say in an interview with Eleven Warriors’ Derek Young:

“I think so. Coach Vrabel and I have a great relationship and he keeps tabs on me. I also get to speak with Coach Meyer sometimes. They have one of the greatest coaching staffs for sure.”

You have to think that with the Buckeyes early lead to land Garrett, Urban Meyer will be able to close the door and land the highly touted prospect from Illinois.

Raekwon McMillan

Finally, we come to Raekwon McMillan, a 6'2", 230-pound athlete who has offers from just about anywhere in the country.

With Clemson, Alabama, and Ohio State said to be the favorites, there’s also a chance that the Buckeyes could put McMillan’s hand on the ground and use him to rush the passer.  His ferocious hitting ability is a trait that isn’t found in most high school players.

247Sports lists McMillan has a class of 2014 All-American going into next season.

All four of these players are special, and any school would be lucky to land just one of them.

The fact the Ohio State leads—or is tied for the lead with each player—is remarkable.

Urban Meyer is relentless, and that philosophy may give him a chance at landing not one, not two, but all four of these top linebackers.
