Point Spread: Baltimore Ravens (+4) over San Francisco 49ers

The Ravens are an underdog for a third straight playoff game, and we think the outcome will be the same in this one as the first two.

No one gave these players a chance when they limped onto the postseason, but Ray Lewis’ emotional leadership and Joe Flacco’s elevated play at the quarterback position have guided this ragtag group all the way to the Super Bowl.

This team seems destined to win it all and they should be able to easily cover the 3.5-point spread. In fact, betting Baltimore on the moneyline at (+155) is worth consideration in order to improve the payout should the ‘dog win.

The Ravens are cover machines and the smart money is on them to capture the Lombardi Trophy.

Over/Under: Under 48

As you’ve certainly heard by now, both John and Jim Harbaugh are the head coaches in this contest and know one another’s tendencies extremely well.

They’ve met before, back on Thanksgiving Day during the 2011 campaign, with the Ravens coming out ahead, 16-6. Since then, both teams have continued their excellence on the defensive end—something that shouldn’t change on Sunday night.

Because of this, the score should definitely fall well below the set total of 48, a surprisingly high number considering the recent history between Baltimore and San Francisco.

While each side has a number of skill position players capable of making big plays, the defenses are better and will prevail in the Super Bowl. We expect the final score to be Baltimore 21 – 49ers 17.
