Orlando Magic rookie Kyle O'Quinn wasn't going down without a fight on Monday night.
With his team trailing by 24 points to the Brooklyn Nets with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, O'Quinn tried to buy his club an extra crack at its possession by hurling the ball off of his defender.
Suffice it to say, he hit his mark right on the nose.
Nets color commentator Greg Anthony perhaps captured the moment best, telling the home audience, "You don't really like to play defense with your face, folks."
Consider that a free bit of advice from an NBA veteran for all of you aspiring hoopers out there.
And to think, here we've been wasting our time worrying about the inherent dangers in the sport of football.
Am I the only one wondering if a) the Nets coaching staff tracks ball deflections, and b) if so, would Blatche (or his face) get credit for this play?
It was, unfortunately, a fitting end to a frustrating night for Blatche. He had eight points and four rebounds in 20 minutes of action, but rounded out his stat sheet with a 3-of-11 shooting performance, two fouls, two turnovers and two blocks against.
Luckily for him, though, his team picked up the slack, as the Nets (27-18) routed the Magic (14-30) 97-77 inside the Barclays Center.
