The Metro reports Arsenal has opened talks with Barcelona forward David Villa.

Villa has been strongly linked with Gunners during the entire window and the Metro believes the London side is getting serious about a deal.

Signing Villa would undoubtedly strengthen the Arsenal attack as they look to achieve their goals for the season.

Whether or not a deal can be done before the transfer window closes later this week is yet to be seen.

Florian Thauvin

Bastia midfielder Florian Thauvin is a rumored target for Arsenal according to ESPN.co.uk.

Here's more from ESPN: Bastia president Pierre-Marie Geronimi claims to have fielded phone calls from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

"We have not received any firm offer from Arsenal and, thus, there is no question of the €5 million reported," Geronimi is quoted as saying.

Arsene Wenger's eye for talent can't be questioned and if Thauvin shows potential it would certainly be a good buy for Arsenal's future.

Signing Thauvin, if it really is in Arsene Wenger's plans, would be better done in the summer as their are more pressing needs for the club.
