Matthew Stafford just missed out on his second straight 5,000-yard passing season, but he was good enough this year to trigger a $500,000 escalator in his contract for 2013, according to NFLPA records.

Stafford, who the Lions intend to work out a new contract with sometime this spring, now has a cap number of $20.82 million for next season.
