At Saturday's Royal Rumble Fan Fest, NXT Superstar Bo Dallas won a tournament to earn an entry into Sunday's Royal Rumble match, the company reported on its WWE Universe Twitter account:
WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) January 26, 2013
He out-lasted Leo Kruger to win the tournament, which also included Xavier Woods, Corey Graves, Oliver Grey, Conor O'Brian, Adrian Neville and Luke Harper.
A second-generation Superstar, Bo will follow in the footsteps of his father, Mike "IRS" Rotundo, as he enters World Wrestling Entertainment's most important battle royal of the year, the Royal Rumble. The company has great expectations for the young star and he will have an opportunity to prove whether he can live up to those expectations when he shares the ring with some of the sport's top performers, including former World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Randy Orton, former WWE Champion John Cena, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, US Champion Antonio Cesaro, and a number of other top young stars.
In recent weeks, Bo had traveled with the company's main roster and competed at WWE Live Events, often times in tag matches. At a recent NXT television taping, he even squared off against then-World title holder The Big Show in the main event of the show.
Bo Dallas is the latest developmental talent to be called up to the main roster. In November, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns of the Shield debuted at the Royal Rumble while Big E. Langston showed up on the post-TLC edition of Raw.
Will any other developmental talents make their presence felt as World Wrestling Entertainment embarks on the road to WrestleMania? Only time will tell. One thing is for certain: Bo Dallas has a tremendous opportunity to make an immediate impact at one of the sport's most prestigious events. How far he goes and how quickly he does it will depend if he can capitalize on that opportunity.
