WWE Royal Rumble: Pros and Cons for the Favorites to Win the Rumble

The Royal Rumble is here and the Road to WrestleMania 29 has begun. Many have speculated who will win and what is going to happen after they do so.

It seems as if almost every year there is a shocking twist or surprise winner of the Royal Rumble and that could very well be the same case this year.

Here is a look at the favorites to win the Royal Rumble and the pros and cons if they do win. 

Randy Orton

Randy Orton got a huge push when he turned face and moved to SmackDown. However, in recent months he has grown stale and been absent from the title picture.

He is in need of a heel change or a big push into the title picture.  Many feel Orton has a good chance of  winning the Royal Rumble or being in the final four.

Pros

-Chance for Orton to turn heel.

-Having Orton in a title match at WrestleMania.

 

Cons

-Orton will be jumping from being pretty irrelevant, right into the title picture. Jumping over other deserving guys like Dolph Ziggler.

-He may stay as a face.

-Miss the chance to push a new superstar like the WWE did with Sheamus last year.

Sheamus

Sheamus shockingly won the Royal Rumble last year and went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 28. He held the belt for six months and remained in the title picture.

Winning the Rumble helped push Sheamus into the top of the company, which makes him one of the favorites to win the Rumble again this year.

 

Pros

-Can help push Sheamus into the "pre-legendary" status. 

-Would be surprising for fans again.

 

Cons

-Been there, done that

-Wasted chance to push a new superstar like they did with him.

John Cena

John Cena is the most polarizing figure in the WWE and maybe in WWE history. 

He returned from injury in 2008 to win the Royal Rumble. Now it appears that Cena could potentially win the Rumble again as he is one of the favorites going in.

 

Pros

-Cena will be back in the WWE Championship picture. (Cena fans)

-We could get another Rock vs. Cena match at WrestleMania. (In my opinion, the more Rock vs. Cena, the better)

 

Cons

-It would be very predictable

-The WWE will show they will continue to push the "Super-Cena" angle.

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler currently holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, giving him one shot at a title match at anytime.

Winning the Royal Rumble gives a superstar the chance at a title match at WrestleMania. And Ziggler could potentially have two chances to win one of the WWE titles at WrestleMania, if he wins the Royal Rumble.

 

Pros

-Ziggler will get the big push into the top of the company like he deserves.

-Having Ziggler with the MITB briefcase and be the winner of the Royal Rumble could make for some interesting angles for the WWE. 

-While Ziggler is a favorite to win, it would be shocking if he actually does win.

 

Cons

-Ziggler already has a title shot, so it could be taking away from another superstar to have a title shot.
