While some teams in college football have uniforms that are easy on the eyes, there are other squads who are certainly in need of some type of upgrade when it comes to attire.
There are unique uniforms in every sport, but college football might take the cake when it comes to quality, design and uniqueness.
While some teams' uniforms might just be a little outdated and others have been awful for a long time, other universities have new and improved uniforms that are definitely not new and improved.
This list does not discriminate as both FBS and FCS schools are included.
Here are 25 teams who could use some type of an upgrade when it comes to their uniforms.
What is a list without a few names who came close to making the top 25. Here they are:
The Red Raiders are one of the many teams in the Big 12 in need of an upgrade, especially those hideous red road jerseys.
This is another Big 12 school, and the solid orange top is not a good color for any team, Oklahoma State included.
Some people love them, and some people hate them. This is easily a uniform that is on the top of many lists.
The Tigers are once again using the orange top. It kind of hurts the eyes just a little bit.
Similar to Oregon, there is a lot of yellow in these uniforms that does nothing but make it hard to tolerate.
Some would certainly consider the Penn State uniforms classic, and I would tend to agree with that.
With that being said, an upgrade to something a little more modern would not be the end of the world, particularly for a program that has been through a lot over the past 18 months.
It would definitely give them a new start and possibly help distance themselves from the recent events.
Winning eight games in 2012 was a good way to get started on that.
Even though the school colors call for it, an all orange top is hard to ignore, and that is not necessarily a good thing.
What makes it even more difficult to look at is the fact that the top is light orange. Dark orange is one thing, but the light color is downright ugly. It does not do the Volunteers any favors.
Who knows, maybe an upgrade on the uniforms might lead to better results on the field.
The Volunteers could certainly use that.
Again, another team goes with the orange. It seems like it has slowly become a staple when it comes to college football teams.
It does not look good on anybody, and Oregon State is no different.
The black pants and orange top they wore in the Valero Bowl against Texas were something to be ashamed of.
Their play on the field in that one was not much better. Still, it was an excellent season, despite the uniforms.
The Temple uniforms would not be that bad if not for the white-colored blocks running down the outside of each pant leg.
It is the combination of white and the ugly maroon color that makes these jerseys so hideous.
With the white blocks mixed with the maroon, the Owls crack the top 25 on the list. If the pants were a solid maroon color, they might not have made the rankings.
As it stands, they are just inside the top 25.
Hopefully North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard is not crying because of the ugly uniforms he and his Tar Heel teammates were forced to wear.
The combination of the dark and light blue is definitely not a good duo.
While we all know Bernard is not upset about the uniforms, some people might be.
This was not a good look for North Carolina.
The Air Force jerseys almost look like those light blue ones the San Diego Chargers wear.
The lightning bolt on the helmet is not doing the Falcons any favors either.
While a little bit of black in the uniform does give it a little design, there is just a little too much blue for this uniform not to at least crack the top 20.
One thing is certain. They are an improvement from what they used to wear.
In past years, the play of Minnesota on the field, was almost as bad as its uniforms.
During the 2012 season, the play improved, but the uniforms certainly did not.
What makes these jerseys so bad are the all yellow pants. The color is almost identical to French's mustard.
The hideous Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys look good compared to these.
As if the maroon-looking color wasn't enough, the designers of these god-awful jerseys had to throw a little orange in to make it even worse.
Even though they are definitely unique and a combination no other team in the country can stake claim to, that does not mean they are not some of the ugliest uniforms in the nation.
There are a few different varieties to these jerseys, none of which are flattering to the Hokies.
The Toledo Rockets uniforms are similar to those worn by the California Golden Bears.
There are a few teams in the country that combine the yellow and blue, but truth be told, that is not a good look.
While the play of Toledo on the field has been excellent, the results have not been the same for the uniforms.
When it comes to plain uniforms, SMU is near the top of the list.
The Mustangs have a few varieties, but the all-red top with the white pants is a downright awful combination.
The helmets are not too bad, but the rest of the uniform, not so much.
This is a uniform that might be a little higher on the list in the minds of many, but I don't think they are as bad as some think.
The all-blue tops with a little orange mixed in are just not a good look for the Broncos.
No matter if the pants are white or black, these uniforms are difficult to look away from, and that is not a good thing.
Mix the blue tops in with the blue turf and the combination is awful.
One interesting aspect of these jerseys is Indiana spelled out on the sleeve of the undershirt.
The rest leaves a lot to be desired. There is a lot of white going on with a little red mixed in, similar to what Wisconsin wears.
When the Hoosiers wear the red tops, there is some semblance of decency, but the all-white mixture is like looking up at the clouds.
Not saying that is a bad thing, just not good for football uniforms.
There are a few different color combinations that Florida International wears, but all of them are as bad as the play on the field from the Golden Panthers in 2012.
They feature an all-white outfit that does not look good on anybody and a dark blue color that is also hard on the eyes.
When there is a combination of the white pants and a dark blue top, it is not too bad, but the other options, not so much.
Judging by the Iowa State uniforms, it looks like the team is sponsored by McDonald's.
While that is not the case, the red and yellow along with the white are certainly an ugly combination no matter who is wearing them.
Whether it is the white tops with the red pants or the red tops with the yellow pants, the Iowa State Cyclones are definitely not dressed to impress.
Brown is not a good color on anybody, and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks are no different.
The jerseys are a slightly better version of the ones worn by the Wyoming Cowboys.
While the play on the field during the 2012 season was not so bad, the jerseys the Warhawks were sporting certainly were.
These ugly uniforms make those worn by Clemson look not so bad. As mentioned earlier, all orange is not a good look, and believe it or not, the Bowling Green Falcons can't seem to pull it off either.
For that reason, the Falcons crack the top 10 on the list.
Like a lot of other teams in the rankings, the play on the field was not indicative of just how bad the jerseys were.
At least the ugly brown tops are not in the mix anymore.
The name says it all, as the North Texas Mean Green are definitely not skimpy on the green.
What helps this uniform crack the top 10 on the list is the green helmet in addition to the green top.
The white pants with the green stripe coming down just add to the fact that this is an awful combination.
It's a little too green for my liking.
The Maryland Terrapins have jerseys that some people are seemingly in love with, but many hated the minute they were released.
There are a few different types, but none of them are doing the Terrapins any favors.
Without question, they are some of the most unique in all of college football, but they seem to be a little overboard.
Similar to Oregon's jerseys, these could be popular 15 years down the road, but just might be a little too early for our time.
There are a lot of color combinations that are a little odd. Red, white and blue is not one of them.
With that being said, the Golden Hurricanes do not pull it off really well.
The old uniforms might have been near the top of the list, but these are not much better. Whether it be the blue on top of the should pads or the red outlining the numbers, there is a lot to be desired when it comes to these uniforms.
At least these beat the old gold, blue and red outfits the Golden Hurricanes used to sport.
The East Carolina Pirates take purple to a whole new level.
Even though the uniforms are not too bad looking with all white and some purple around the numbers, the helmets put it near the top five on this list.
The Pirates are not afraid to try out new uniforms, and this combination is certainly not one of the better ones they have chosen.
When they bust out the purple tops, things get even uglier.
There are a few different uniforms that UTEP roll out on any given year, and none of them are anything but hideous.
For that reason, the Miners crack the top five on the list.
Simply put, orange and blue do not go together, and the orange helmets top it all off. Throw in the blue stripe going down the side of the jersey and it is complete.
Certainly, this is one of the worst jerseys at the collegiate level.
The brown and yellow combination does not look good on any team, and Wyoming is no exception.
Why bother even spelling the full name on the front of the jersey when "WYO" is plenty. There is way too much brown to not think it is one of the worst uniforms in college football.
The cowboy on the helmet is also just plain ugly, and while there are a lot of ugly uniforms when it comes to the FBS level, this is the worst of them all.
For the top three schools on the list, it is necessary to take things to the FCS level, particularly the Colonial Athletic Association.
The first team on the list is the Delaware Blue Hens. Even though they have improved their look in recent years, there is no question that these outfits leave a lot to be desired.
They are similar to the uniforms of Michigan, but in a little lighter shade.
This is not a good look for the Blue Hens—or anybody for that matter.
The Rhode Island Rams are members of the Colonial Athletic Association, and one of the worst teams in the country at that, after putting together an 0-11 record in 2012.
Who would have thought this league would have the worst uniforms of any conference in all of college football.
They take the meaning baby blue to a whole new level. The uniforms are similar to something North Carolina would wear, only worse.
The helmets do not do much to help out the cause either.
There is no question about the team at the top of the list. Florida A&M is a member of the MEAC—and not a good one at that.
They wear a few different uniforms, but the worst one of them is the all orange pants with the green and orange top.
Green and orange are two colors that are not supposed to go together.
Simply put, there is nothing good about these jerseys as they are the ugliest in all of college football.
