Wrestlemania XXV is a forthcoming pay-per-view of WWE scheduled to take place on April 5,2009 at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. It will be the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania. Superstars from all three brands- Raw, Smackdown and ECW will participate here. Currently, nine matches are scheduled on the event's card.
Let's go to review those matches:
At Royal Rumble, when Jeff Hardy was moments away of retaining his WWE title, then Matt Hardy came in. He handed Jeff a chair to beat Edge while Matt came in with another chair appearing to help his brother. But to utter disappointment, Matt intentionally hit his own brother and cost him both the match and the title. After that, the brothers brawled in and out of the ring for several weeks, shattered each others heart with their speech and vowed to destroy each other. After those incidents, the 'extreme rules' was added to the stipulation to their singles match.
This is the only match scheduled for the divas on the event's card. 25 divas from Raw, Smackdown, ECW and WWE history will battle it out in a battle royal with the last person to be standing will be crowned with the honor as 'Miss Wrestlemania'.
Some of the participants are: Women's Champion Melina, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes, Jillian Hall, Layla, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Tiffany, Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, Katie-Lea Burchill, Gail Kim, Maria, Divas Champion Maryse, Michelle McCool, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella etc.
On the March 9,2009 edition of Raw, JBL defeated CM Punk to become the new Intercontinental champion. The next week, the master of 619, Rey Mysterio challenged JBL for the Intercontinental title at Wrestlemania. To further prove his ability to become the Intercontinental champion, Mysterio defeated William Regal and JBL himself.
JBL also accepted the challenge and assured that he would teach Mysterio a lesson for what Mysterio did three years ago after defeating him and ending his career.
Based upon the rise in the popularity of the film, The Wrestler, Chris Jericho took exception to one of the movie's themes—not to respect the legends of WWE.
And in that course, Y2J annihilated several of the WWE Legends, including Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, Ricky Steamboat, Jerry Lawler.
He even insulted Mickey Rourke, actor of The Wrestler.
After those sneak attacks, Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka challenged Y2J in a three-on-one handicap elimination match where Ric Flair would be in the Legends' corner.
The stipulation was Jericho had to beat each of his opponents individually whereas the Legends had to beat him only once.
Though it was tough, Jericho accepted the challenge and told that after Wrestlemania, only one name would be synonymous to the word "legend".
That name will be Chris Jericho.
After both The Colons (Carlito and Primo) and John Morrison and The Miz had retained their individual tag team titles and won their dates with their valets, The Bella Twins' The Colons challenged the Dirt Sheet duo in a tag team title unification match on the March 17 edition of ECW.
The Dirt Sheet duo accepted.
Then, the next week, when Morrison tried to count out himself in a singles match against Carlito, General Manager Theodore Long announced the stipulation of the match will be a Lumberjack Match.
The fifth annual Money In The Bank Ladder Match was announced for Wrestlemania XXV on February 23 edition of Raw.
Qualifying matches began from that night until March 17 edition of Smackdown.
The eight participants include: CM Punk, Kane, Mark Henry, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi KIngston, Christian and Finlay.
The only way to win the match is to climb up a ladder and retrieve the briefcase hung above the ring with a cable.
Then the MITB contract can be cashed in at any time and at any place the winner wants.
Out of the eight participants, only CM Punk has the taste of winning the MITB Ladder match, cashing in and then winning the World championship.
In recent weeks, all eight participants battled it out in numerous matches with all the brawls ending with one man climbing the ladder and touching the briefcase.
Who will be the victor at Wrestlemania? And will he be able to cash it in and win any title like other winners have done?
Following the main event of the March 2 edition of Raw where Edge was defeated by John Cena due to disqualification for the World title, Big Show was then named as the No. 1 contender for the World title at Wrestlemania.
But Cena showed all WWE fans a video about Vickie Guerrero's affair with Big Show and ultimately, won the chance to be in the World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemana.
It will be a hard battle for both Cena and Edge as they are the underdogs.
But can they overcome the odds and fight a hard, bloody battle for the World Title?
Can any other match be so personal? Randy Orton and Triple H has build up a huge tension among all WWE fans. The storyline started before Royal Rumble when Orton punted Chairman Vince MacMahon. At Royal Rumble, Orton eliminated Triple H last to win the Royal Rumble. He then stared a feud with Shane MacMahon and defeated him in a No Holds Barred match at No Way Out. He also punted Shane and then RKO-ed his sister, Stephanie. Then Triple H came to the aid of the MacMahon family.
Throughout last month these two fought severe battles with Triple H breaking Orton's car, breaking into Orton's house, and utterly destroying the house.
With Orton handcuffing Triple H, beating him up mercilessly, applying DDT on Triple H's wife, Stephanie, and then kissing her; then Triple H beating the hell out of Cody Rhodes in a steel cage with a hammer etc.
Many WWE fans thought that Tripole H was helpless until last week' when Triple H brought Vince and Shane MacMahon for backup.
The three then attacked Orton and his Legacy. With that, the power of these two men now becomes equal.
As Orton vows to beat HHH and takeover WWE, Triple H decides to punish Orton for all his attacks on the MacMahon family.
It will be a hard fought battle with two man fighting for protecting two things—
Triple H for the MacMahon family and Orton for his Legacy.
After defeating Vladimir Kozlov on February 30 edition of Smackdown, Shawn Michaels achieved the status to battle Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXV and try to end his undefeated streak.
All wrestling fans are getting crazy to watch Undertaker battle HBK at Wrestlemania.
HBK has done the impossible! He super-kicked Undertaker twice, sneaked into the Phenom's graveyard and dug a fresh grave in memory of the Deadman's streak—16-1! He also held two funerals for the Undertaker.
Undertaker has never defeated Shawn Michaels whereas the Phenom is still undefeated at Wrestlemania and the undefeated streak has stretched upto 16-0.
With the HBK getting his numbers, will Undertaker be able to pull off his first victory over Shawn Michaels to stretch his streak upto 17-0? Or will HBK give Undertaker his first taste of defeat at Wrestlemania?
To get answer of all these questions, please watch the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania this Sunday!
