While the Royal Rumble could be one of the best pay-per-view events of the year, shouldn't all of the titles in the WWE be represented in the actual show and not be pushed down the ladder to the pre-show?
In the matter of Antonio Cesaro and his upcoming match against The Miz, the WWE isn't showing the current United States Champion the respect he deserves.
It was determined Wednesday night that Cesaro, who I believe is one of the true great wrestlers in the WWE, will face The Miz in the "warm up" match before the "real" battles begin. This isn't fair to either one of the combatants.
While we all know The Miz is a former United States, Intercontinental and WWE Champion and Cesaro has been one of the more surprising superstars on the company's roster as of late, the idea of the two greats starting off the first PPV on the Internet is wrong.
Cesaro is a throwback to wrestlers of the past. A battler like Ivan Koloff and a skilled mat wrestler like Dory Funk, Jr, there are bigger things on the horizon for the Swiss star. The Miz could use the title win to springboard himself into title contention again.
And both figure to be key players in the actual Royal Rumble with a shot at headlining WrestleMania in April.
In my opinion, Cesaro has a chance to be a heel along the lines of Koloff and The Iron Sheik. The WWE needs a wrestler like Cesaro to become a main fixture to battle the likes of Ryback, John Cena and Sheamus.
The Royal Rumble is already packed with great matches and the battle royal itself. And while there has to be an opening match to start the event, it seems more like Cesaro is an opening act rather than a solid finishing one.
That is not how the WWE should handle one of its better talents.
