Manchester United is looking to add some extra firepower to the club, and one of the most recent targets of Sir Alex Ferguson has been English star Wilfried Zaha.
While no agreement has been made between United and Zaha's current side, Crystal Palace, that hasn't changed Ferguson's desire to land the talented 20-year-old.
Although senior figures from Manchester United and Palace failed to strike an agreement on England youngster Zaha during talks last Thursday, Ferguson remains determined to sign the 20-year-old during the transfer window.
According to Ogden's report, it seems that there are a few things getting in the way of completing such a deal, namely Crystal Palace's asking price and the fact that the club wants Zaha to be lent back to them after he joins Manchester United:
United have so far refused to match Palace’s £15m asking price, instead offering a package in the region of £10m for the player.
While a compromise is expected to be reached on a fee, the main obstacle to a deal being done is the Championship club’s desire for Zaha to be lent back for the rest of the season.
Clearly there are still some roadblocks that are preventing Zaha from joining Manchester United, but Ferguson's strong desire to land the English star should help get some kind of deal done.
What Zaha Brings to United
It didn't take long for Zaha to take the world of European football by storm, and he is one of the rising stars in the sport today.
As far as skill is concerned, Zaha brings a lot to the table.
He has great speed and stellar ball control that aids him in faking out even the best defenders en route to the net. There's no doubt that opposing sides must account for what he can do when the ball crosses midfield.
Thanks to the extra attention needed to stop Zaha's offensive skills, the Ivory Coast native also has the ability to exploit that attention by setting up his teammates for scoring chances with crisp passing close to the net.
With his immense creativity with the ball, there's no telling what Zaha will pull out of his hat when the ball is at his feet.
The only concern for him is on the defensive end. He hasn't proven to be a solid defender thus far in his career, but he is only 20 and that could change with more experience and maturity.
Sure, there are a few negatives to be discussed when talking about Zaha, but the positives of what he can bring to Manchester United far outweigh the negatives.
