The Texas Rangers are discussing the possibility of adding a staffer to assist new hitting coach Dave Magadan.

The assistant hitting coach is becoming increasingly popular in the game. At least 12 teams will have someone in that role this season. Magadan had an assistant without the coaching title throughout his six seasons with Boston.
