Shaun White comes to Aspen to do what he does best—compete against the world on the snowy slopes of the Winter X Games; it will be a welcomed respite from the bizarre and eventful year he just had.

There is no doubt we are about to see something memorable this weekend because White has regaled us with fine feats of snowboard flying before.

ESPN even managed to pique our interest with a tease of a possible triple cork off Aspen's Slopestyle.

If there is any place White feels most comfortable, it's on the snow. It may be just one reason he has decided to ignore skateboarding for the rest of 2013, diving fully into his Winter exploits.

While he dazzles us with acrobatics, he always seems in control, which is counter to some of the things that went down in 2012.

Of course, one of the better moments, and one that took the sports world by surprise, had to be the flood of dating rumors that hinted the Flying Tomato was dating Leonardo DiCaprio's former lady, the lovely model, Bar Refaeli.

The Huffington Post summed up the entirety of the rumors between the 27-year-old model and the red-headed superstar.

Both were seen together when Refaeli was honored by Maxim Magazine at their Hot 100 release party. After that, they were both seen cheering on Michael Phelps and the rest of Team USA.

Since that time, the two have remained relatively quiet as far as their respective relationships, with rumors Refaeli may even be dating businessman Adi Ezra.

For now, we assume all White is taking to Aspen with him is just his snowboard.

That was hardly the biggest story for White, who in 2012, was also involved in a drunken debacle that saw him arrested and charged with public intoxication back in September.

Shortly after, he received alcohol treatment and performed community service as a part of one crazy night that saw him destroy a portion of the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Thankfully, White has paid restitution to the hotel and it was reported earlier in the month all charges were dropped, via ESPN

By the end of the year, the man who takes every hill with cool calm was in need of a new look.

While he decided to give his hair away to Locks of Love charity when he cut off his mane in December, we like to think he did so for the haircut—a fresh start demands a fresh look.

The new year has been all about White getting back to work and looking ahead to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

He will do so with far less hair and a great weight lifted from past mistakes. The biggest name in Winter X Games history will once again prepare to invigorate the sport, and we will all be watching.
