WWE Royal Rumble 2013: Full Card Simulation

0 of 6

The 2013 edition of the Royal Rumble takes place this Sunday.

The card is pretty much set. According to WWE.com, the card is as follows:

CM Punk (c) vs. The Rock for the WWE Championship

Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Last Man Standing match

    30-man Royal Rumble match

Team Hell No (c) vs. Team Rhodes Scholars for the WWE Tag Team Championship

Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. The Miz for the United States Championship (pre-show)

Like what the Madden developers do with the Super Bowl game, I will simulate the Royal Rumble card on WWE ’13. There will be a recap of what the game’s outcome was and what my predictions will be.

I’m looking forward to this pay-per-view, so let’s see what the game predicts.

Antonio Cesaro vs. the Miz for the United States Championship

1 of 6

The Miz announced on WWE Main Event that he will be facing Antonio Cesaro for the United States Championship on the pre-show. Both men will compete in the Rumble match, but it will be exciting to see them in singles action.

WWE ’13 simulation: Cesaro was dominating The Miz for the first couple of minutes. Cesaro connected with a huge spinebuster. He then ran towards Miz, but Miz flipped him over his head. Miz continued by grabbing Cesaro by the back of the neck and driving him head first into the mat. He then hit the Skull Crushing Finale to win the United States title. Winner: The Miz

My prediction: This match is taking place on the pre-show, surprisingly, but this is one title change I don’t see happening. They will put on a great match, but Cesaro is just getting comfortable in his role, while Miz is still new to being a face. Maybe by Elimination Chamber we’ll see a title change.

Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars for the Tag Team Championship

2 of 6

Many people, including myself, are predicting Team Hell No to break up soon. Their act is good, but it’s becoming a little stale for me. Team Rhodes Scholars are on the rise in the tag division. Both Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes shine on the mic together. A title change may be what both teams need right now.

WWE ’13 simulation: Kane and Rhodes started the match. Kane chokeslammed Rhodes from the top rope. Rhodes was able to recover and tag in Sandow. Team Rhodes Scholars were doing their best to keep Kane from his partner.

Kane took out Sandow and tagged in Bryan. Bryan connected with four or five huge kicks to the chest of Sandow. Bryan had Sandow in a choke hold, but Sandow was able to break out of it. Bryan then hit a suplex and got the three count. Winners: Team Hell No

My prediction: I don’t agree with the simulation. I predict that Team Rhodes Scholars will win the tag titles on Sunday. Team Rhodes Scholars have already lost a couple of times, and another one at the PPV won’t do them any good.

They definitely need the belts if they want to continue their rise. This loss will be the catalyst for the eventual split of Team Hell No.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show for the World Title in a Last Man Standing Match

3 of 6

Alberto Del Rio won the World title on the Jan. 11 edition of SmackDown in a Last Man Standing match.

Big Show demanded a rematch and Booker T allowed him to pick the stipulation because he was not ready to face Del Rio that night. With Del Rio a face and the new champion, another win over the Big Show would definitely help him.

WWE ’13 simulation: Big Show used some high-impact moves, trying to put Alberto Del Rio away early. Show then ran towards Del Rio, but he reversed it into a back breaker. The men traded right hands for a few seconds. Del Rio took down Big Show with a chop block.

He then connected with the step-up enzuigiri. Show was unable to answer the 10-count. The match only last a little over five minutes. Winner: Alberto Del Rio

My prediction: Would WWE give Del Rio a two-week title reign just to put it back on Big Show? I don’t think so. This match will be better than their encounter on SmackDown. Del Rio will use every trick in the book to keep his opponent down. I think we may even see a return of the giant chair as Del Rio retains the World title.

CM Punk vs. The Rock for the WWE Championship

4 of 6

The match that everyone has been waiting for since Rock announced the title match on Raw 1,000 in July. The Great One vs. The Best in the World. A dream match that many thought we would never get to see.

Mr. McMahon banned The Shield from interfering after they attacked The Rock on Raw. It will be interesting to see what condition Rock is in and how Punk will retain his title.

WWE ’13 simulation: Paul Heyman is at ringside for this match. Rock came out firing with a Russian leg sweep and a back suplex from the top rope. Rock pulled out all of the stops as he connected with a huge diving crossbody. Punk made a comeback with a German suplex and a couple of heel kicks.

They settled down and traded blows. Punk blocked Rock’s punch and hit the GTS. Rock was able to kick out at one. Heyman threw a chair into the ring. After a springboard elbow, Punk busted Rock open with a right hand across the face. Punk and Rock were caught in a pinning battle with many near falls, but it eventually ended.

Rock connected with a Rock Bottom, but Punk kicked out. Rock picked up the chair and hit Punk a few times. The Rock was a bloody mess at this point. Punk left the ring and that is where things took a turn. Punk landed a few DDTs and a superplex.

Punk went for another GTS, but Rock reversed it and landed a DDT, planting Punk’s head into the chair. Punk was back in control. He went for a moonsault, but Rock put his knees up.

They went back to the outside and Rock put Punk through the table with a Rock Bottom. Punk was unable to make it back into the ring and was counted out. However, he still retains his title. Winner: The Rock

My prediction: The simulation was great, until the end. I think Heyman will play a factor into the match. I believe that CM Punk will retain the title here. The Rock is advertised for the Elimination Chamber PPV and I feel that’s when The Rock will capture the WWE title.

CM Punk has defeated some big names during his title run, but none bigger than The Rock. A win on Sunday will cement Punk as one of the best in the WWE.

30-Man Royal Rumble Match

5 of 6

Every year, the Royal Rumble catapults a Superstar into instant main-event status. Shawn Michaels. Stone Cold. Alberto Del Rio. Sheamus.

This year, the match is wide open. There are many Superstars who deserve to win the match.  Some of this year’s favorites are John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus. Will we see an underdog or one of the usual suspects win the match?

I did my best to be as accurate as possible with the rumble participants. Unfortunately, I could not set the entry number of Dolph Ziggler, who will be either No. 1 or 2.

    WWE ’13 simulation:

The match began with Zack Ryder and Heath Slater. The first half of the Rumble was star-studded. Dolph Ziggler was No. 4, Wade Barrett was No. 8, Sheamus was No. 9 and Randy Orton was No. 10.

Drew McIntyre was able to rack up four eliminations before being eliminated by Orton. The Miz, Kofi Kingston and Kane were the next three to enter.

The second half kicked off with John Cena as No. 16, which I thought was early.

There were two surprise entries, JBL and Billy Gunn, who came out No. 18 and 19, respectively. Seven of the final eight entrants were up-and-coming stars: The Usos, Antonio Cesaro, Damien Sandow, Ryback, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes and Brodus Clay. The final four were Cesaro, Jey Uso, Rhodes and Clay.

Rhodes went on a tear as he eliminated all three men to with the Royal Rumble. McIntyre led with four eliminations. There were three Superstars with three eliminations each. Winner: Cody Rhodes

My prediction: This was a tough simulation because the game doesn't take teams and alliances into account. With that being said, I loved the youth movement towards the end of the match. However, I don't think Cody Rhodes will win the match.

He's still in a team with Damien Sandow and I don't see it ending any time soon. In the end, I think it will come down to Dolph Ziggler and John Cena at the end with John Cena coming away with his second Rumble victory.

Conclusion

6 of 6

The WWE '13 simulation predicted The Miz, Team Hell No, Alberto Del Rio, The Rock (by countout) and Cody Rhodes would win.

My predictions are Antonio Cesaro, Team Rhodes Scholars, Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk and John Cena will win.

The matches, especially the WWE title match and the Rumble match, are wide open. The Rock could defeat CM Punk to end his title reign and head into WrestleMania as champion or Punk could beat The Great One and add another notch to his belt.

Is John Cena the clear-cut winner of this year's Rumble match or will WWE surprise us all with a different winner?

It will be an exciting pay-per-view, as usual, and I personally can't wait for this Sunday.

Leave your predictions down below to see how they compare to WWE '13 and mine.
